Entry 143

It's always an interesting process for me as I interact with intangibly characterized spectrums. Take intimacy for instance; looking it up produces a multitude of definitions the vast majority of which I unsurprisingly, don't agree with. At least in their entirety anyway. In turn, I looked into my own definition of intimacy and concluded it too was vague. I think it's important to note that intimacy is not reserved for romantic relationships alone but also friendships, the bond between parents and children, the fleeting communion of strangers at a dinner party or in a taxi or plane, crushes, being deeply moved by art or by historical events, the relationship between reader and writer: in all these that space is vital, even electric; and it often drives the story. "What happens in the space between us." I find this so striking a phrase! And so it'll further serve as an unofficial and guiding definition of intimacy. Like looking at the sun, looking directly ...

Paw Paw's Thoughts...Ordo Ab Chao?

Image
Paw Paw might just be the perfect anti-hero...Always looking good, feline good, thinks catitude is everything and loves the lyrics, "when I floof you floof...just like that." It's ludicrous. Paw Paw is more than that however, and here is an excerpt from her journal. Approximately 61213847 seconds ago, I was tasked with writing a piece about time. Broad topic…broad topic. Where to begin…the Big Bang? Pendulums…BC? How does one speak of something so vast, so infinite as time. Is it truly infinite? Does it define a bubble without which we cease to exist, or is it a lot more complex? Could be simpler still… Side note…the dark side of the force was never really dark to begin with. What does this have to do with the topic at hand? “Absolutely nothing,” was all the response Paw Paw had in her little purr. Allergrophobia coupled with the massive effects of Kaboy and it’s “boom! Perfect timing.” Iron Mike ran this train into the ground. Have our attempts to quantify the imme...

DArt PArt

Image
Let the record show that I watched the eyeball pop right out of his eardrum, gun in hand, firing what looked like tiny pit bulls from a glass slipper. "We were having dinner..." is supposed to be how this all starts, but...anyway...darts and parts...a schoolboy queues for food only on Wednesday. "Arty way too sketchy" I don't see the path but I foresee myself at the destination. This piece! Art! What is art? I find myself unable to articulate my understanding of it and so I figure this will make a worthwhile piece. This inability is weird because art is uniquely positioned to move people… Inspiring us, inciting new questions and provoking curiosity, excitement and outrage. Cheeks called it expression; an outpouring of subjective experiences and emotions. Barbie says art is a science of capturing beauty; the conscious re-production of form (sounds, colours, movements or other elements) in a manner that appeals to the senses and emotions. Dennessey said art is ...

Ouch with an ouu!

Image
Intro: Pain is inevitable! I always imagined these were the philosophical discussions black cat would share with the dog every after a fight. The winner sharing the 'ouu' as the loser of the day took it all in. We're not unlike these animals, getting shitfaced, ghosting our people, skipping a workout because we don't feel like exercising...Illusory, temporary...Rage, rage against this muscle pull that has made me lose my train of thought. Speaking of trains, i'm always reminded of Alan Paton's 'Cry the Beloved Country' and so many other not so happy memories...a dark visual.  "Good boy...Listen to this pussycat." Black cat: It's easy to argue, the biggest misconception about happiness is, one cannot find it(the 'worthwhile kind') without experiencing pain in some form. The light they speak of  is actually darkness. Ironic because, I will be your light throughout this conversation. Ponder these before we begin... "Your maxims  ar...

Touché or not Touché

Image
"Relax, master the selfie. Nothing is in control." Touché or not touché would only be a musing that a lowly being dwelling in the hot sands of the 20th plane would conjecture. But, when faced with a powerful accursedly, but mostly cowardly necromancer, and possible annihilation, even the lowly may find the price of a smile too costly. What are face paintings when the dark vortex to upper earth’s most dreaded cemetery opens up right before one’s talons? But, then, isn’t this what necromancers are famed for? With a whole demon of orcs, (for it would be treasonous to describe a group of hump-backed, slithering beings like that, by such a lowly description as, “hoard”. Ironic, no?) the new Urgah of Asgaroth, the Orcken Capital, flanked by his newly acquired prowess, a new dark magic trick, Raggathoth is out to offend the desert elves of the Iskat desert, reigniting an age-old feud between both undesirables. But we’re used to these two engaging in shield-size contests, so, it shal...

Chei and Chai: A concept

Image
"There's no eye in e-ndividual" It is funny how often we lie to ourselves, and not so much about the little things like “I’m so in love with so and so” or “my purpose in this life is…”   It’s often the biggest thing of all…”I’m sane!” I guess what’s really funny is the willingness, the ease with which we do it. Mucu is feeling sane with a hundred others. What are the odds that we get to truly understand the difference between what is worth considering and what isn’t? Speaking of odds, I detested math in my tune up years and the fact that there was always something more interesting to think about and or do, did little to help. What was the probability Ms. Itah would be my teacher instead of Mr. Mugerwa? ½, like that coin thing? Maybe there’s some random variable I’m missing…SMEA…Chei! As usual I keep doing the most to myself. "Aye man listen," my daemon said, “you work brilliantly under pressure. Get it done five minutes to deadline.” Chei! Sometimes, just ...

Back to Eden

Knowledge of evil guarantees evil's existence . To pretend it doesn't exist simply births in our minds, as a natural response to this undesired force, its malevolent companions(Pain being a somewhat perfect example). In a "perfect world", assuming a perfect God(based entirely on our biases) would suffice. All the while ignoring the fact that we need to realize our own imperfect(impaired) judgment has led us to this detrimental resolve. Perhaps this is why the knowledge of good and evil was considered the key to our downfall. Our inability to choose freedom(living with the fact that is evil's existence), over slavery (submitting to the fact of evil's existence), would render us incapable of "reasonable function". This inability is brought to question once you assume a perfect God creating you in his very likeness. This needn't be the case however, for we were naive(a concept only the maker would be aware of at the point of our conception; ...
